This year it will be held on Saturday 12 November at Strumpshaw Steam Museum, Norwich, NR13 4HR. The venue will be open from 10.30am, ready for AGM business at 11.00am. Following the AGM business, refreshments will be provided at 12.00 midday. At 1pm the museum will be providing viewing with an engine in steam and organ playing. For apologies or further information, please contact Honorary Secretary Daphne Rumball, secretary@eates.org Congratulations to our President, Jonathan Wheeler and his hardworking family and friends on a very successful threshing day at Bardwell in Suffolk. Visitors were treated to the rare sight of two complete tackles working side by side, powered by Jonathan's Ruston "Oliver" and our chairman Stuart Hines' Fowell engine "Percy". The Ruston was running the Foster drum now owned by Danny Wheeler, and formerly the pride and joy of our late members George and Marian Royce, and which had not been worked for fifty years. Alan Hines also attended with his Robey showman’s tractor "Batsheba", while Jonny Ling took along his Pleur street organ. A selection of other vintage exhibits joined in the fun, and a good sum was raised for the upkeep of Bardwell Windmill. With thanks to Gary Clayton for the use of his images. We've updated our website and although now live, it is still work in progress!
Please be patient with us whilst we continue to work on this and grow the website for members and public. We'll be adding events and news articles so be sure to follow the progress! The members area will follow shortly and we hope to have an online shop soon. |
