During the last few years the EATES has published eight books, each of which has documented some aspect of our agricultural and  industrial heritage and East Anglian life.  East Anglia is well known for having  been the home of steam engines builders such as Burrells, Garretts, Ransomes, Paxmans and Youngs and details and photographs of  Steam Rollers and Steam Wagons and Showmans, Traction and Ploughing engines, together with their associated equipment , feature prominently in the eight publications.

The dry humour and eccentricities of country folk are captured by items and anecdotes, and insights are given into village life of days gone by, all of which makes interesting reading for those with a nostalgia for the past.

Steaming Down the Ages - Pat Freeman

As befits of Society with "Traction Engine" in its name, all the books EATES has published in the past contain some aspects relating to steam engines and their mechanics. However , in this book, pre - eminence has specifically been given to engines  and associated personnel by using photographs taken of them, mainly in their working days, with captions to give thumbnail sketches of their contents, but no attempt has been made to give a complete history of each engine. Most of the photographs were taken in East Anglia, but there are some that  have been taken elsewhere in the  country which feature engines built mostly in East Anglia.
